Powered by LMWR: LimeWire Network™ DAO & Tokenomics
The rollout of the LimeWire Network™ is structured across three progressive phases, moving from high-performance internal use to full decentralization and developer access.
In its initial phase, the LimeWire Network™ will exclusively power the LimeWire file sharing platform. All five architectural layers - User Layer, Gateway, Validator Layer, Blockchain Layer, and Storage Layer - will be fully implemented and operational. While technically decentralized from day one, the LimeWire Network™ will remain a closed system to rigorously test performance and scalability under real-world conditions. With over 4 million monthly user sessions and 400 TB of active storage from LimeWire File Sharing (as of Juni 2025), the LimeWire Network™ will already rank among the most heavily used decentralized storage networks globally.
Early 2026 marks the opening of the LimeWire Network™ to the broader developer ecosystem. Developers and independent teams will gain access to the Public SDK and the S3-compatible Gateway, enabling them to build on and interact with the LimeWire Network™ storage infrastructure. This move broadens the utility beyond LimeWire File Sharing and begins the foundation for a multi-tenant decentralized storage layer.
Later in 2026, the LimeWire Network™ will transition into a fully decentralized infrastructure project. This includes the launch of a governance token and a formal Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) made up of validator node operators and the LimeWire Network™ developer team. The DAO will have on-chain voting power to propose and approve upgrades, manage validator onboarding, and oversee ecosystem development. Active participants will be incentivized in LMWR tokens. Detailed tokenomics, governance rules, and the token rollout schedule will be announced after the private beta concludes.
